Waterlooville HC Wellbeing Garden
Love Outdoors CIC is working with NHS Property Services, Strawberry Health PCN, Havant Borough Council and partners to create a community garden in the grounds of Waterlooville Health Centre.
A huge part of the project has been engaging with the local community, patients and staff to ensure that the garden meets the needs of as many people as possible.
Between November 2025 and January 2026 we gathered feedback from the community, staff and patients, popping up at GP surgeries, community venues and meeting groups across the area to get the communities views.
Initial design ideas were created in January 2026 and the community was able to provide additional feedback at a community fun day on Saturday 17 January. Taking in to consideration all the feedback from this event, feedback forms and meetings with the community and staff, and taking landscape considerations in to account, a final design has now been produced (see below). If you would like to come and see the designs, we’ll be at Waterlooville Health Centre on Thursday 23 April from 10am-12pm.
As the site is so large and will involve adding paths and considerable groundworks, the team have been working in the background on the designs and information required to apply for planning permission. Permission will be applied for soon (hopefully April 2026) and then we will need to wait for the relevant approvals, so that works can progress.
Whilst this goes through, we plan to work with the local community and groups to help prepare part of the site at the front, as well as identifying creative ways that can contribute to the garden when the hard landscaping has been completed.
Once planning permissions have been granted the next stage will be for contractors to be appointed to carry out the hard landscaping works. Whilst this is happening we will establish a volunteer group to start the soft landscaping works.
